Iranian short ‘Exam’ wins at BRNO16 Int’l Short Film Festival

The 2020 BRNO16 International Short Film Festival in Czech Republic awards Iranian short film ‘Exam’.

‘Exam’ has garnered the international student jury award at the 61st edition of the BRNO16 International Short Film Festival in Czech Republic.

Directed by Sonia Haddad, the 15-minute short film narrates the story of a girl named Sadaf who has forebodings for the exam she is going to take.

But today, instead of going to school, she delivers a package of illegal drugs to a client and gets caught in a weird cycle of events.

‘Exam’ has previously grabbed the AFI fest award which made the title qualified for the short film category of the 2021 Oscars.

The 35th Sundance Film Festival in the US also honored the flick’s star Sadaf Asgari with the Special Jury Award.

‘Exam’ has also competed at many other film events, including the Charlotte Film Festival in the US, the Landshut Kurzfilm Festival in Germany, the Annapolis Film Festival in the US, the Film Fest Sundsvall in Sweden, the Brattleboro Women’s Film Festival in the US, the Skepto International Film Festival in Italy, and the Loudoun Arts Film Festival in the US.

The BRNO16 is one of the oldest short film festivals in the world that each year hosts enthusiasts from all around the world.

According to the festival’s official website, “it presents various kinds of short films - live action, animation, experimental, student, professional and also non-professional. Besides the prestigious competition, festival offers different kinds of activities in the off-programme - exhibitions, discussions or workshops”.

The event was held on December 2-6, 2020.
